These masks are developed from the totem worshipping and sorcerer' sacrificial rituals of ethnic minorities in Yunnan and Guizhou of China. Ethnic minorities currently using such masks include the Jinuo, Jingpo, Buyi, Wa, Bai, Dai and the Zhuang of Yunnan Province.
